Sherlock (BBC)

Recs are pulled dynamically from my delicious account (link goes to fandom:sherlock tag).

Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes is striking a pretty hearty blow against my gayness. He's just so compelling, and disdainful, and the SCORN is like catnip. Add to that curly floppy hair, piercing eyes, and the best voice to come out of England since Alan Rickman, and I'm lost.

Sherlock fandom is pretty excellent as well, and has been a total delight to play in. There's the expected slash, because the chemistry is really good, and you know, that long fannish history of slashing Sherlock Holmes and his Doctor Watson. But, oh fandom of my heart, there is delicious genfic the likes of which I haven't seen since the heydey of X-Files fandom. Case files! Bromance! Bonding over body parts, running through the streets of London, hijinks and lojinks and middling jinks!

And there is an entire community dedicated to exploring Sherlock's pretty-much-canon asexuality, and the stuff coming out of there is great. I feel like this is the first show in a long time that's making fandom (by which I mean fic writers, really) break out of the "one finger, two fingers, three fingers, fuck" mold en masse and examine other aspects of relationships and sexuality. I'm loving it.

Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. Mack Daddy and johnbaby. HELLO.
