Ames' Popslash Recs

Last updated 10-15-05. Updates can also be found on the popslashyfic community on LiveJournal. Go here to join. New stuff is indicated with a wee little * - and is generally at the top of the section. This update is a little SeSa 2004 heavy, because I've had the stories bookmarked forever and just never got around to it.

THE PAIRINGS

JC/Lance | JC/Justin | JC/Joey | JC/Chris | Lance/Justin | Lance/Joey
Lance/Chris | Chris/Justin | Chris/Joey | Joey/Justin | Group!Slut!Fic | BSB Fic | Everything Else

JC/Lance

The Baffled King by Sarah Q.
I told Chara that one of the things I loved most about this story was that Sarah Q. took time with it. The guys have conversations that aren't there solely to advance the plot. It opens with a little Lance history that's beautifully written, and makes me remember that Lance had a life before the group, and it wasn't a bad one. As the story continued, I realized that I was gasping at every kiss, completely sucked in - which hasn't happened for a while. Love it.

Remix by Harley
I love the pace here. It's slow, it takes its time, and Lance and JC are both written beautifully. Awkward when they need to be awkward, hot when they need to be hot, and I kind of want to hear Lance's mix of "Selfish". Ah, well.

Not Yet by Halo
Lance visits JC on the set of the BMU video, and JC is flat-out delighted to have him around. Jut a great little story.

German Lesson by Slim
I have a weakness for baby!sync, I know this. And this story isn't helping any. Short, sweet, cute as hell. Lance uses German to his advantage.

One Near Perfect Thing by K
Great fic, set in the almost-present; JC's sending lyrics to Lance through the mail, Lance is dating Jess[i]e, Britney's being stalked by Fred Durst, Justin puts his foot in it a little, and Joey dishes out the tough love. Fabulous.

Explanation by V.
"Sometimes he wonders what JC would be like if he had a fucking clue. It seems, though, that if JC had a clue, he wouldn't be very much like JC."

Flame by Rhys
JC flames and Lance loves it. Great Lance in this story, beautiful JC, and nice little charcoal sketches of the other guys. Short, sweet, and a favorite.

Just Push Play by Slim and Without Me
AU. Lance runs an adult-film business out of his apartment, and JC becomes part of the talent. Yummy, and still true to character. Plus, hot. Rawr.

Tattoo by Bohemia
Lance and JC discover the beauty of words on skin.

Movement in Still Life by Ice and Pablo
Justin fake-yawns. "*Nobody* listens to French house anymore, Lance, I was saving you from joining the ranks of the unfashionable." Affectionately referred to as the Club!AU. The guys, a club, much drug use and alcohol, and delicious flirting. JC is one sexy mofo.

Exclusive by Lily
We're not the only ones who wonder about Jesse and Lance. So does JC. And Lance thinks he has it all figured out, but maybe he doesn't.

JC/Justin

River by Cody
I have such a weakness for MMC-era stories. It's well documented, I have embraced my shame, yadda yadda. I don't know what it is, there's something about the longevity of JC and Justin's friendship, and how Joey factors in there, and the possibility of Joey and Chris eating lunch at Universal, maybe nodding at each other as they pass on the walkway or whatever - all that potential just waiting for the right time to get together and explode. "River" is a story of JC noticing Justin's crush on him, but it's also JC looking at his world and being excited about it. Everything is cool, JC is incredibly cool in his own head and a little like an asshole and a lot like a teenager, and I really love his voice here.

Daydream Believer by Jae
JC and my friend Lily share a kink, it seems. They like boys in dresses. JC likes Justin, specifically. Sexy and hot hot hot.

Caught Up by aylex
Ahahaha! Ever been caught in traffic with someone that you really do like, but at that moment, in that space, you would gladly kill him or her if it would just get that car in front of you to freaking MOVE ALREADY?! Yeah, me too. JC and Justin live that special hell here, and it's damn funny.

Descent by Beth and Kaelie
All the romance of Interview with a Vampire, with none of Ann Rice's bad writing. Vampire JC is swoon-worthy. I'd bare my neck for him. Beth and Kaelie have created a world that sucks you in and doesn't let you go until the chapter ends. I'm not crazy about the ending, but the trip there is worth it.

Love Song by Amber
OK, I'm confessing. Amber's stories usually leave me confused. I mean, they're great, but half the time I'm left wondering exactly what happened. Not so in this case. JC and Justin take a vacation together, and the whole time, it's almost like JC is doing Justin a favor. But, he really isn't, and it's not like that, and the ending hurt me a little. Amber has taken her popslash off of the internet and reworking them into original fiction. But I'm keeping the recs here, because I still love the stories.

Sleeping Beauty
I love how popslash has saved the songfic. For every five fics where someone decides to let the radio do their exposition for them, there's a great story where the song fits the story. The Autumn Songfic Challenge is a case in point, and so many good songs came from it, including this gem from Jaesepha.

Come One, Come All by Dacey
Ahhh! I love love love this story. It's a cold night in Germany, the boys are freezing, and Chris has a suggestion. Justin is flat-out adorable. And I want sequels, I want to read the same scene from the other character's POVs, I want this story in a million iterations.

Remember by Jaesepha
Justin turned 21. Justin made a fool out of himself. Justin doesn't remember. ames laughs and laughs and laughs.

Rusty by Helen
I said, "Chara, you've gotta read this Nsync story, you'll love it." Chara declined, not being in the popslash mindset. I forced the issue one night in a hotel in Pennsylvania, shoving my PDA in her hand and refusing to let her do anything until she read it. She read it. She laughed, she gasped, she cried, she fell in love. And JC/Justin is her OTP to this day. Chris! Chris is the best part of the story. Well, Chris and JC. And Justin. And Rusty, and everyone.

Standing on Tiptoe by Val
She teases us by saying it's the first of three parts, but it's perfection all by itself. MMC era Justin and JC, and a perfect Lynne. "She wraps her arms around your waist, tell me more about this boy, so you let your head fall back against her shoulder and spread your arms wide because you don't yet know words big enough to describe JC when he sings."

The Abdul Theory by Hayley (Extended Behind the Scenes Two-for-the-Price-of-One Rhinestone Romance Remix) by torch
(I have no idea how to properly link to these remix stories. . . ) Justin and JC, playing Cupid for a stubborn Chris and Lance. And Tiny! Tiny cracks me up here. This is a great story. And while you're there, check out the original, by Hayley. Cute cute cute.

JC/Joey

* Know I'll Stay by Velma
I think that Joey's engagement and wedding broke many a heart, and not just teenie hearts. JC's heart, and Lance's, too - those two guys who obviously love Joey like crazy (although how they love him is up for debate). And Joey is clearly into women, and into Kelly, and into their life together, which gives the whole friendship between the three of them this bittersweet tang that makes my heart hurt. This story is Joey and JC, and how a person can fall in love with absolutely no chance of it being returned, and know it, and still get by because that love is ingrained, like cells or DNA.

One Thing that so never happened to Joshua Scott Chasez by Merry
Merry wrote this for me in the 2004 Secret Santa, and I couldn't have been happier with my gift. Chris breaks up with JC - but they weren't ever dating. Were they? It's all a plot, it's all a plan, and with marvelous results. Chris gets in trouble, JC gets angry, Justin invokes the Mouse code, and Joey's the Designated Customer. Great fun, and you should all read it. ALL of you. Now.

Firefly by Pet
Oh god. Joey takes JC on a picnic, and ames about dies from the sweetness of it all.

As Clumsy as You've Been by kel
"I don't know. You wouldn't, you'd save me if I was drowning, right Lance?"
Lance puts his hand over the glass of the microwave so he can't see Joey's face. "Of course I would," he says. He doesn't ask if it would go both ways. Lance learned a long time ago that it's easier to just figure out a way to breathe under water.

That line breaks me every time I read it.

Kiss by Jae
Joey's going to kiss JC, just as soon as he can make it perfect. But perfection is hard to come by. . . (one day, I'm going to get a job writing blurb for Harlequin Romances. Sigh. This story is great. Ignore me.)

Nothing Like Different by Molly
Joey/JC is probably the sweetest pairing ever. Except for when it isn't, and Molly nails it here. Sometimes Joey just wanted to smack the earnest Joe America expression right off JC's face.

NY Sunset by Cherry
God, this is beautiful. Gorgeous details, all senses invoked, and two sleepy boys.

Kentucky by Zoicite
Joey Month was a wonderful thing this year. And, I realized how sweet and adorable Joey and JC were (I know, I was under a basket or something). I think this may very well be my favorite JoeC story ever. Caves, Lance and Chris being sneaky, and JC has an idea, and Joey is sweetly oblivious.

Nobody's Birthday by Merry
If you've seen the pictures from the Celebrity concert, you can see the love that Joey and JC have for each other. If you've read this story, you understand it. I melt every time.

JC/Chris

* Stardust by Trixie
What is it about this pairing? Is it the contrast between Chris's bitterness and JC's sweetness? Or Chris's sweetness and JC's brittleness, or how they are so totally opposite but so very alike? I don't know, but it is compelling. And if it brings me stories like this one, an AU set in WWII where Chris is a hornman and JC tickles the ivories, then I don't care why people write it. Just write more.

Rain by Terri
A nice little vignette with JC and Chris and rain, and JC's need to be normal for a second. He communes with nature, and Chris comes along. Sweet.

Snow by Amber
Guh. This is a beautiful fairy tale with princes and princesses, and evil and spells, and True Love. The guys all break my heart for different reasons. Go and read. It says sixty-seven parts, but they're often short and really, I'd take twice as many. Amber has taken her popslash off of the internet and reworking them into original fiction. But I'm keeping the recs here, because I still love the stories.

Before You by Amber
Whoo! Bitchy JC and bitchy Chris and you can just feel the sizzle. Amber has taken her popslash off of the internet and reworking them into original fiction. But I'm keeping the recs here, because I still love the stories.

And to continue the bitch trend, I give you. . .

Bitchy Barista JC by Cappuccino!
JC is indeed a bitchy barista, and I love him. Justin is the gayest of the gay, and gets better with every chapter. Drink it with your coffee, or if you really want to piss JC off, your caramel mocha latte skim extra whip half decaf light caramel with a vanilla shot. (Actually, that kind of sounds good.)

Mandolin by Pet
::sniff:: Chris is broken, and JC is the sweetest person in the world.

Lance/Justin

I realized when I was compiling this list that this is my OTP. I thought it was Basez, but going by sheer number of fics bookmarked and saved. . . it's Lambs.

Stay Cool, Boy by Tiffany Rawlins
More baby!sync, which I love. This is the story of Lance's audition, where he's wearing the wrong shirt and singing the wrong song, and is the wrong kind of nervous. Fortunately, Justin's there to show him the way.

Hope (British Columbia) by Maggie
The Lambs take a roadtrip to Hope, BC. I love cranky Lance, and he is here at his crankiest. Justin is most adorable, and I will never look at pickles the same way again.

Deadly by Jae
Lance struggles with the seven deadly sins. Lord have mercy on his soul, but this is funny funny stuff. And sweet. And perfect, even if Lance isn't. And thank god he's not.

Free Man in Paris by Sandy
This is how I picture the guys post-Sync. They're grown up, you know? Justin's out on his own and getting a little tired and a lot overwhelmed, and Lance comes on board to manage him. This is a beautiful story, with great Justin. (And incidentally, Justin in the title graphic reminds me of my older brother, which has nothing to do with the story, but I find it interesting.)

Allegedly Yours by Kel
Ah, the high school AU. This is one of the best ones. Lance transfers schools his senior year, and sophomore Justin immediately gloms onto him - to Lance's great irritation. The feel of this story is fantastic. It's funny, it's a little sad, it's hella good.

Before and After by Nemo
I'm not sure I entirely buy Justin in this one, but I don't really care. It's great, it's one of the cream of the 2003 DWNOGA crop, and as with everything Nemo writes, it's totally worth a read. Justin watches everyone growing, and Lance watches Justin notice. Then Justin turns his attention to Lance.

Everybody Else is Doing It by Lizzie Mills
Another one in the "I LOVE THIS STORY" books. Baby!Sync, which I love. Orlando!Sync, even, before they got good, after Jason, and right when Lance joined. There's a taste of GSF in there as well, but this is a Lambs love story, and it melts my heart. NOTE: the domain expired, and I can't find where the story is just now. I'll update when I do. (9/3/04)

Fever by Lise
Ah, the gimmick!fic. Classic. Lance comes home from space with a strange fever. Lise refers to it as the Take Back The Contrived Magical Plot Device fic, and I can't top that.

But then she kills me with Sleep to Dream.
One day, Justin wakes up in what is very much not his bed. First of all, the sheets are scratchy and plain cotton, not like his nice soft sheets. Second of all, someone who looks like a very thin AJ is staring down at him. Third of all, these aren't the clothes he passed out in last night. Fourthly, there are bars around the windows.

Sure Thing by Genee Li
I say you can't go wrong with Lance and Lucinda Williams. Find the song, listen to it, then hit this fic. And if the guys ever go on tour again, and you get to go to soundcheck, please do the world a favor and ask Lance to sing it. Sigh...

Out and About by Sandy
You know, there's a reason why everyone recommends Sandy. This is one of them. Justin and Lance falling in love despite themselves, and with much irritation. (I think irritated NSYNC is my favorite flavor.)

Your Writing on My Wall by kel
God. I so relate to Lance in this story. Baby!sync. Lance is gay and out to the band, and Justin. . . Justin wants to help. Or something. It's sweet and sad and lovely.

Lance/Joey

* See What Happens by Synchronik
JoLa! Shirtless Lance! Feels Like Home by Cherry
I sometimes feel like I'm coming in at the tail end of fandom, that I'm recommending stories that everyone's already read. You know what? I don't much care, because sweet things like this fic need to be remembered. Joey and Lance redefine home. I love JoLa. ::happysigh::

Until Now by Pet
You think that this is one kind of a story, but it isn't. And it breaks my heart and you want to smack some sense into someone, but at the same time it makes sense the way it is, and it's just sad.

Favor by Synchronik
Seriously, y'all, I don't know why I'm trying to separate the wheat from the chaff on Synchronik's site, because there is no chaff. It's all wheat.

Intense by Willa
Very nice sexy story. I like me some befuddled Joey.

Love is Strange by SQ
After he sleeps with Lance for the first time, Joey thinks about deliberate motive, the early days. Lying in a warm bed, sheet thrown over their naked bodies, he rests a hand, flexed flat, in the dip of Lance's back - here, now, pale silk against him and his to have.

Silence by Jaesepha
A very touching story about how a relationship can break and rebuild and be stronger than before, but different. Lovers to friends, but it's not an easy transition.

Obvious by willa
Because sometimes I need sweet romance.

Not Too Late by Lily
When people ask me why I hate practical jokes and will never ever watch Punk'd, I will point to this story. And when people ask me why I love the JoLa, I will point to this story.

Kiss by Synchronic
"Joey was hazy on how it started, but kissing Lance became another of the pre-show rituals, before the vocalizations and the prayer, because, Justin said, it seemed sacrilegious to put your tongue in someone's mouth after saying 'amen.'"

Sweatshirt by Helen
There is something comforting about wearing a close friend's clothes, or having him wear your clothes. It's intimate, in a way, an affirmation. Joey lends Lance his sweatshirt, and Lance doesn't give it back. A short, very sweet story.

Lance/Chris

Videotape by Sinead
Gorgeous story. Chris's fears are shown almost obliquely, as he over-relates to The Beatles through their movies. Lance is perfect, and the love that radiates between these five guys permeates every sentence. (Although I have a tiny issue with the sentence "Chris was almost old enough to remember life without VCRs." Chris is definitely old enough to remember that. Tiny little pet peeve. I'm over it.)

Be Your Own Best Friend by Betty P.
Possibly my most favorite fandom story ever, and it's for entirely personal reasons. Seriously, I've read it a million times, and I love it more than I did the first time, or the time after that, or the time after that. Chris tells us the story, but it's Lance who kills me here. I think I've felt every single thing he's felt, at one point or another. And he wants so much and can't let go and can't grab on, and Chris is trying and trying and in it for the long haul. Plus, it's wicked funny.

Something to Say by Synchronik
You know, Synchronik is one of those authors that I just want to point you to his page and cut you loose. You know what, go there now. Read everything. Then get back to me. But make sure you hit this one, because it's about as good as trickyfish gets.

Chris/Justin

Aged by Molly
Have I declared a definitive Timbertrick yet? Cause this may be it. Love in a diner, hashbrowns and mustard dripping down Justin's chin... beautiful.

Thirteen Hours from New York to Rome by Chris J
Reading this is like eavesdropping on conversation. There's a nice intimacy between the two, plus the ease of long friendship. And, hell, it's a long flight to Rome, you know? Boys gotta do something...

Melancholy by Dex Webster
As the author says, it's not timbertrick, but it wishes it were. Slash turned inside out, maybe. It's short, beautiful, and painful. Justin and Chris, and JC's the only person who gets it.

Mirage by Merry
Fucking creepy, man. Like, shivery creepy. And I got teary-eyed, which is as close as I come to crying. It's about being friends, and being close, and where you go, I go. And heartbreak. And Chris and Justin and nsync.

Blinders by Tink
Chris is kind of blundering through life (much like the rest of us) and Justin cries. I love Tink's writing. Love love love.

Chris/Joey

Experiment V by Rhys
The first popslash I ever read, I think. Definitely one of the first ones Ro recommended to me. A lot of my initial impressions of the guys were a result of this fic. And the title graphics creep me the hell out. I love it.

Joey/Justin

* Words: Watch (don't close your eyes) by Dale Edmonds
A strange swirl of a story, Jutin POV. Justin here is going through something that involves sex, and Britney, and sex with Joey, and he's confused and turned on, and it is completely hypnotizing.

Just Don't Tell Me That by Jae
Jae uses rhythm in this story like no other fic I've read. I catch myself walking to the beat of "It was fun, it was fun, it was funfunfun", which is one of those phrases that I wish I'd thought of. Rhythm and repetition and perfect construction. This is hot Timbertone with a side of kind of creepy but maybe not.

Guerillas by Helen
It would be the best present in the world if this story were 1) continued on and on and on and on, and 2) all in one text file. Well, no, that's just laziness on my part. But I do love this, and although I've got it tucked away here in Timbertone land, there's a nice healthy chunk of Chris/JC to make you happy. Helen shows that sometimes, we don't need a lot of background information for a good AU. Spare descriptions, short chapters, addictive read.

A Thousand Kisses Deep by Sandy
WIP. There's screaming about 2.4 million sold in the first week, there's Joey kissing everyone and Chris beside himself with joy, and there's Justin in the bathroom, kind of freaking me out.

Perfect Fit by Cherry
Justin never asked to be singled-out. Lovely, vulnerable Justin, and a completely understanding Joey.

How To Catch a Train While it's Moving by kel
You won't have seen the set list, but you'll already know that there will be twelve songs that Justin won't play. You'll have been here before, once or twice on every tour, even if Justin didn't know it, and there will be twelve songs that Justin won't play anymore, all twelve tracks from the second album.
Twelve songs Justin won't play and you'll never think of them by their actual titles, the ones that got printed on album covers and lyric sheets but never set lists. In your head, you'll have your own titles for each of them.
The first song Justin won't play spent twenty-six weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, became a retired video on TRL, was nominated for two Grammys and in your head, you will always think of it as "Nobody Told Me When My Band Broke Up."

Group!Slut!Fic!

* The Wrong Mantras by SA
Mmmm, group slut fic. Chris likes JC (Lance); Lance likes JC (Justin); Justin likes JC Joey); and Joey likes JC who likes Joey and they all fuck around and it's a gorgeous circle of sex with JC glittering in the middle.

The Royal We by Tiffany Rawlins
This fic is like sitting at a bar with someone that you thought you knew really well and who you thought was a straight-up guy, a nice guy, a come-meet-my-mother guy. And then the guy maybe gets a little drunk, or a little fed up, or you caught him on a bad day, and he opens his mouth and he starts to talk, and there is ugliness inside. Grit and frustration and anger and weariness and it's so real that you almost have to look away. Don't. Chris is angry, Justin is scarily detached, Joey wants to comfort, JC wants to get dirty, and Lance is trying really hard to convince himself of something.

The Office Depot Series by Kim (lambs), Lily (bassez), Rowan (trickyfish), and Icebun (jola)
I'm on the phone with Ice one night and I happened to mention that I had this fic fantasy where Lance and JC go to Office Depot. And Lance is kind of turned on, because clearly he's got an office supply kink. And they have sex somewhere, like in the binder aisle or something. And she said "write it!" Which I interpreted as "get other people to write it for you!" Which worked out marvelously. It's not exactly GSF, except for the unwritten fifth section where Lance has a good time all by himself over by the office furniture, and the guys watch on the security camera.

Delayed Re-entry by Lily
See, Lance made it to space, but there was a problem, and he almost didn't make it back. And the guys were there for each other, and now they're there for Lance. It's kind of beautiful.

Backstreet Boys

And The Painted Ponies Go Up and Down by Allecto
"Fictional Nick Carter scares me," I said to Rowan, only half in jest.
"Why?" she asked.
"He's kind of thuggish, and every fic I've read with him in it, he's been such a jerk."
"ames, no, he's just misunderstood! Read this story by Allecto, she explains all."
And she did, and it was good. I love Nick now. This is Nick's life, and it's amazing the kid survived.

Unpretty by Chris J
Sometimes, Nick Carter breaks my heart. I mean, he has everything, right? And he doesn't have anything sometimes. He's done this for so long, it has to have left scars. Chris J shows how Nick slowly began to reclaim himself. It's kind of stark, kind of sharp, kind of like a tattoo.

Everything Else

* With You on My Lips by lilysaid
I had a hard time knowing what to do with this story, where to put it. There's a definite Justin/JC thing going on here, but it also is about that slow self-discovery of something that is maybe a little scary. Like, the fact that a boy can like another boy. Or that a boy likes girls, but maybe not for the right reason. And cherry-vanilla lipgloss, and permanence.

Stop and Smell the Smoke by kel
Britney had been smoking for three months before Justin let her catch him catch her. Brit-and-Justin, but not really. Kel gives good creepy!Justin (my second-favorite flavor), and again I say, poor Brit.

Off Season Transactions by s. a.
Lance-fic. As a child of the South, I know the hold it can have over you. You never really let it go, and it never lets you go, and there's something about it that is deeply comforting, even with all the faults and history. Or because of it. Lance would understand. s. a. understands. I love it.

I Know This Bar by SA
Genfic. A rarity here on the recs page, I know. This is how I'd like to see Chris, in some reality. He's done with the popstar thing, and it's time to open a bar and start living his life. I like this Chris, and I'd totally go hang at his bar.

Borderlines by Synecdochic
See, there's something vaguely creepy about Justin Timberlake. A little in canon, and a lot in fanon. He's been insanely famous, off and on, since he was sixteen, he was kind of raised by Chris and JC (which has to have had some kind of strange impact on the kid's psychological development), and I could go on all day about his inherent bizzareness. So, he has to have found a way to cope with it all, and this is one way. Justin? Meet Jay.

Ripple by Georgina
Justin and The Great Sexuality Discovery, as assisted by one Nick Carter. We should all be so lucky.

The Hackery AU by Georgina
My favorite JuNi AU ever, I think. Nick is sweet, shy, and a brilliant hacker. Justin is sweet, not shy at all, and a brilliant hacker - who works for some government agency somewhere with the rest of the guys. It jumps around in time, teases you with a little now and a lot of then, and I love it. Plus, there's this:
There was something on the back of Lance's neck, a smudge between the neat-clipped hair of his nape and the scoop of his neckline, like, like. Nick stared at it a moment, squinting. Like somebody'd dug their teeth in and held on for a while.

Guh.

Head Over Feet by Zoicite
Nick and Lance, and Nick doesn't do the one night thing. Lance does. . . doesn't he?

Angels AU by CJ and Pet
WIP, never to be completed. Pet and CJ have created a gorgeous reality here, beautiful and chilling. It's about angels and deities, and what they mean to people, and the length to which governments could go to use that power. It's about friendship, and cultural differences, and falling in love and helping each other. The visuals are gorgeous, and I would love to see this finished.

The View From Here by Rowan
Justin + Pharrell 4eva! Or, Chad Likes to Watch. Or, Something More Complicated Than That is Happening Here, and It's Ro's Typical Stellar Work, iheartherwritingsomuch kthanxbye.

Ballerina by Lise
This breaks my heart. Poor Brit. She knows she doesn't have Justin the way everyone thinks she does, but she keeps thinking that what they have is better. Special. But is it special, or is it empty?

Dirt by Cappucino
Dirt! I wasn't sure what to do with this one. Kind of Timbertricky, kind of JuNi-ish. Justin wants to get dirty. And Nick Carter was smiling into the camera, and there was dirt in his smile.

Easy Come, Easy Go by Helen
We're all thrilled that Helen got her site back up (.net, not .org, in case you didn't know), and this story is one of the reasons why. Gritty gangster AU where JC is a siren, Chris is a hitman, and Lance is the guy who gets the job done. And love is everyone's fatal flaw.

Light Show by Pet
Awwww. Howie and Lance, all crossovery and cute, curled up under Howie's Christmas tree. ::melt::

Under Glass and Between Corners by Calico
I always pair these up. JC, refracted, first in an school AU with Nick (and math!) and then early Nsync, with Kevin. I love JC in these stories. (And Justin and Nick are flat-out precious in Between Corners. Just so you know.)

Your Name on My Cereal Box by kel
I think this is the definitive Justin story for me, as well as the one that made me look at Trace with new eyes.

The thing about Chris, though, is that he thinks that Justin's fucking crazy because he got famous so young and that eventually he'll be not so young and not so fucking crazy. Chris doesn't get that Justin got famous so young because he's fucking crazy, has always been fucking crazy and always will be fucking crazy.

"Whatever," Trace says. It's his job to get that, not to go around explaining it to everyone else.

I also highly recommend the commentary.

Joshua Chasez's Livejournal by Cappucino
::dies laughing::
::takes breath:: OK, this is JC's LiveJournal, and ...
::giggles hysterically::
::giggles more::
Fuck it. Just read it, it's hysterical.
