What can I say? Kay is magnificent. Her writing, specifically the story archived below, was the inspiration for this site. This was one of the first Buffyfics I ever read, and I was astounded. Instead of the fluffy fun that I'd expected, she showed me that it was possible to take this sometimes campy, sometimes angsty, sometimes downright silly television show and bring it into the dark.
By stripping the characters away from everything they know, all that defines them, she allows them to grow and develop in sometimes surprising directions. This is, without a doubt, one of the absolute best stories out there. If read as a stand-alone, it sings. Read as an epilogue to "Graduation Day II," it is a bold break with canon, and yet still remains true to the characters we love.
Just read it. You'll fall as deeply in love with it as I have.
