The Chatter in the Caf... What's New
January 15, 2002
Well, after over a month with no updates, it's a Rheanna and Yahtzee love-fest over here. (Not like that.) Three stories - "Captive of the Soul" by Yahtzee, "Vivere" by Rheanna, and "Splinter" by the two of them.
December 2, 2001
No spoilers in this update. "Kaleidoscope", by Criss Moody, is a Cordelia character study, technically set in S3 of Angel, but not really giving anything away. And it's beautiful. "Fall at Your Feet" is a scene set after Angel becomes human, sometime in the future - Schumigal has written a wonderfully bitter and tense little scene from Angel's point of view. Enjoy!

Good sized update this time. A new site is in the "Spotlight" - "You Got the Stones", a wicked fun challenge site. Also, two new stories for your reading pleasure. "Aurora", by HonorH, is a story about the monks who created Dawn; "Getting Lost", set in Season Six, is an examination of Buffy's state of mind at the end of "Tabula Rasa".

Tiny update as I still have much reading to do to catch up. So, while I wait for permission from authors, I put up a new interview... Yahtzee.

Welcome back! TDSoS is back from hiatus just in time for the new season. Or, actually, a little late for it, but still. We're back. And we have three new stories for you. Kassie continues her excellence with "Stitch" wherein Angel ponders life, the universe, and everythink, and Fred talks about geometry. 'Tis good. Then we have two new authors to the TDSoS fold - LindaMarie, with the excellent "Mask" and Pablo, gracing us with "Burying the Shadow". Coming up in the next couple of weeks, a new author interview and hopefully a new Spotlight!

A couple things. First, Joyce-fic by Faithtastic - "Precious Things". Beautiful sweet little vignette. And secondly, TDSoS is taking a little vacation. I'll be back when the new season starts to suck up all that premiere-fic, but until then - we're taking a fanfic break. Keep reading, and if you come across anything you'd like to see here, let me know!

Whew! What a week. Visitors all week, so I'm way behind. But, looky, new stuff! A new story by Jennifer-Oksana, a totally rockin' writer and another story by Yahtzee. Sorry about the wait, but hope you enjoy them!
July 4, 2001
First, a big thank you to my beta volunteers! You guys rock, and I hope you get lots of work. Second, two new stories. "Body Art" by Melpomene is a Faith and Wesley story (as opposed to Faith/Wesley) that's just beautiful. Sanguinary gives us "Pi" which is spoilery for Angel's final two or three episodes of the season, so save it if you haven't seen those yet.
OK, gotta go watch fireworks and be patriotic.
June 23, 2001
Happy birthday to me! OK, one day late, but still a monster yay for having survived another year and enjoyed it. Just one brief update - Puca Dentata has graced TDSoS with an interview. She's up on the scribes section. And I still need beta readers, so please jump in and volunteer!
June 17, 2001
Tomb Raider rocks mightily. Go see it.
Onward. Much has been happening here in TDSoS-land. First, a new story by the almighty Te, a giant in the fanfiction world. "The Debts Series" takes off wher "Bad Girls" ended, and goes into a dark ,scary place. In other news, TDSoS is now the Dark Zone archive for the BtVS Writer's Guild. You'll find guildy stuff under the Guild button in the top frame. Pretty darn intuitive, ain't it? I'm also sending out a plea for beta readers - I need a nice grouping of people who are willing to beta, so please tell your friends and volunteer. Toodles!
June 6, 2001
Well, it's been a little bit of a hiatus, hasn't it? I got a little bogged down in moving apartments, so TDSoS had to take a back seat. But I'm back with a great new story - "Suttee" by Flywoman (who I think wrote fic for The X-Files, but I'm not sure.) Spike POV for "The Gift" - if you haven't seen it, don't read this yet.
Also, I've been trying to get in touch with Te and Kat, but the addresses I have for them are bouncing back. Anyone who can point me in the right direction (or drop them a line) would be thanked profusely!

So sad. Gilmore Girls has ended for the season. I might just cry.
New story by Kita, and I gave her a new intro page as well. Also, a link to Maayan's Divine Comedy, and we have a new author, Esmerelda. She gives us an excellent post-Apocalypse story set in the Angelverse.
Enjoy!
April 28, 2001
Yahoo! New Buffy and Angel eps - about time! And I've returned from a much-needed vacation (as if any vacation isn't needed) and am fresh and frisky. Not like that. So, two stories by Yahtzee are presented for your reading pleasure. "Being Lois Lane" grabbed my attention by referencing one of my favorite pop culture characters. It kept my attention by being the best Joyce story I've ever read. Imagine being Joyce at the end of season two. Your daughter, your only child, has run away from you. And, just when you've realized that she apparently has delusions of saving the world and fighting vampires - you find out that the delusions are in fact reality. How would you cope?
As for "Named", I'm just going to give you a quotation:
What business do I have trying to talk to Buffy Summers? The Slayer is my lover now.
Enjoy! I'm off to read the nominations for the Onyx Award - whee!
April 8, 2001
God, I'm tired of The X-Files. And yet, I still watch. That's what seven-plus years of loyalty gets you.
Well, the last update before I go on vacation for two weeks (Whoo! Seattle, here I come!), and then the hours-long slogging through e-mail when I get back. So, it's short and sweet. Elizabeth is back with "Shadow Position", a look at the final scene of "Fool for Love". Buffy is sad and detached at the same time. This fic drew me in from the very first sentence, and didn't let me go until it was over.
Second, a plug. Maayan (long praise her fanficcy name) has instituted The Undead Awards, a fanfiction awards site. TDSoS is sponsoring The Black Onyx Award for Outstanding Darkfic. Since you guys hang out here, it's a good bet you like the dark stuff. Go ye forth and nominate worthy fanfiction - make it a challenge for me! (I hope to lose sleep over this...) And thanks to Erin for suggesting the name. You rock on.
March 18, 2001
Um, I got all egotistical, and decided that I was tired of pop-ups and the like, and kind of got a domain name for TDSoS. Which is of the good, right?
March 17, 2001
Whew! I thought that March would never get here. But it finally did - my work deadline has come and gone, I have a cute new toothbrush holder, and I go on vacation in one month. So, yeah, I'm in a good mood.
And, now that work isn't so insane, I've had time to update. And it's a doozy. One: a new author interview with Annie Sewell-Jennings. Two: A new story, "In the Waiting" by Rheanna - awesome nifty piece. To quote the author: "...it's got dungeons, Angelus and mental instability, and it's a feelgood fic. No, really." Three: a new section to TDSoS - Spotlight. The link is in the top frame and on the sitemap, if you're a frame-hater. Spotlight is where I will randomly point out lists and archives that have a steady supply of awesome fic, complete with samples of what I've found there. I'll also list those authors on the regular archive page, with the typical babble. The first subject is the BuffyAngelImprov List, complete with four fics!
March 1, 2001
Today we have a Kate story. The first of its kind here at TDSoS. Elizabeth, in "A Point Apart", takes a long hard look at the Kate of recent days. It's not pretty.
February 24, 2001
Ugh. I hate my sinuses, and tax season, and basically the first three months of every year. Work is a total nutter. But, that's my stuff. You want to know about the updates, right? Three new stories to tempt your fanfic palette (pallet?) and tantalize your imagination. Kassie (yay!) gives us a touching Cordelia story in "Regrets, We All Got 'Em". Mary Ellen counters with her own Cordy fic - "Waking Up Tired". And then, in an homage to the electronic age, we have "Lemonade Clouds Blur Lines" by Briar. WARNING: these stories are fraught with spoilers, so if you're not current to the US season (rowan, this means you) read no further. Pencil it in on your calendar. Everyone else, go play!
February 4, 2001
This has been the DreamSmith week. As you know, "Virtue of a Warrior" was added a few days ago. And today, as promised, "A Thing of Terrible Beauty" has been redone. The chapters are now shorter, I've deleted the textfile, and there's a lot of new stuff! I'm not sure where the original "Chapter 8" correlates with the shorter chapter numbers, but you should go check it out. Don't let the size of the story scare you - it's well worth the read.
January 30, 2001
DreamSmith's Faith novel "Virtue of a Warrior" has been uploaded to TDSoS. The man amazes me. Also, "A Thing of Terrible Beauty" is in the process of being broken into smaller chapters, which will be uploaded as they come. I won't announce when each chapter is up, but if you've been waiting for this... well, know that it is in process. It's well worth the wait, let me assure you.
January 29, 2001
Well, first of all, I found a big ol' mistake that y'all probably noticed, and I must apologize to Morgan. The summary blurby thing on her page was for a completely different story (also today's update) and had nothing at all to do with her fabulous "Wonderland". Mea culpa and I'll be more careful in the future. It has now been corrected.
And now for the update. First, Melymbrosia gives us the aforementioned story about the vamp-addict; go read it. Second, Rowan answers my silly questions in the author interviews - 'cause I don't give her enough to do anyway. Enjoy!
January 23, 2001
Heh. Just noticed that Rowan does her dates the European way. Neato. (Of course, I should probably say the Australian way, since she's, you know, Australian, but then it makes sense and isn't quirky as it first struck me.) So, yippee for the new layout - isn't it pretty? Good ol' Ro, always there to type her little fingers to the bone for me.
Business. Three new stories, but you guessed it, three new authors. We have "Codladh Buanan Bás" by Avarice - a trippy look at Angel's dreams. Then "An Elegy for Reason" by Kismet - Spike and Buffy and Giles and the whole crew. Plus a surprise trip! Finally, there's "Wonderland" by Morgan R., an exploration of what Cordy, Gunn. and Wes are doing in the aftermath of "Reunion". Wonderful writing, all of it.
Oh, and you know those "vote for me" buttons on the front page? Feel free to exercise your rights....
21 January, 2001
All new look! Pink pink pink!
Please report all broken links and images to Ames or Rowan.
January 8, 2001
Sigh. The first update of the new year. New millenium. New everything. Is it just me, or is everything kind of sparkly these days? Three new authors, three new stories, and something different - a poem. Check out "Sunnydaler" by Ailie McFarland, where a former SHS student (former due to the fact that there is no SHS anymore) talks about school life. Read "Hooks" by Olwen and worry about Wes. Enjoy the fun that is "Black Shoe Diaries" and drown yourself in the poetic beauty that is "Sotto Voce", both by Hth. And have a wonderful New Year!
You want the old updates? This update page was getting longer than some of the stories on the archive. I put all the 2000 updates on here.
