I came to the Buffyfold fairly late, so I missed the whole Jenny Calendar storyline. As I've slowly caught up, however, it becamse clear to me that this was an important woman, both plotwise and in the relationships she forged with Willow, Buffy, and most importantly, Giles.
However, I forgot that she was also Jhanna, of the Kalderash, and that she had an entirely different life before she came to Sunnydale. A life that was mysterious, secret, and filled with a family that was more than just a family - that was a true clan.
"Romano Drom" is written from the point of view of her unseen, unheard father, after her death. It is beautifully written and achingly sad. Seanan told me that of all his writing, this is the story that people responded to the most. I think that's because he wrote from the heart, and the purity of the emotions speak to everyone.
