Rowan

Rowan writes with a lyrical grace that manages to be both simple and moving. I loved the following three stories so much that I wrote back some of the longest feedback I've ever written. I mean, it had subtitles!

"Wolfself" fills a glaring hole in TDSoS - Oz stories. It's hard to find fic about Oz that doesn't make him into Willow's White Knight. Rowan looks beyond his placid demeanor and finds something a little horrifying - even more so because, for all we know, it could be scarily accurate. It's brief, just a few paragraphs, but packed with images that you'll carry with you long after you've read it. You'll never look at the wolf-boy the same way again.

"Darkside, Lightside" and "The Stranger's Portrait" are Spike-centered stories. In the first, a fanfic staple is explored with a poignance that brought tears to my eyes. The second could take place at any time, in any city. Imagine you've been a vampire for tens, hundreds of years. Would you know your own face if you saw it again?
