Research Party... Useful Links

These are some excellent resources for all your BtVS writing questions. Check them out, use them well...

The BtVS Writers Guild
The hub for your writing needs. Houses the various Guild sections, where you can get specific information for characters, 'ships, and BETA READERS!!! People who volunteered to read your story in its roughest state, critique your grammar (ahem), and help make your story the award-winning tale you know it can be.

Common Errors in English
Affect vs. effect? Their, they're, there? Go here to find out which word to use - you'll be glad you did.

Addictive Stigmata
I cannot recommend this site enough. More than an archive, more than the Noir Awards (oh, my idol, my inspiration), but essays on what makes good writing, how to tell if your favorite original character is the dreaded Mary Sue or Marty Stu, and heck, graphics help to boot!

The Complete Episode Guide and Buffy World
Oh, what was that episode where Willow told Faith just what she thought of her? What exactly did the Mayor say to Angel in Faith's hospital room? Go here to find out.

And for just a generally excellent (and entertaining) book on the art of fiction writing, I highly recommend On Writing by Stephen King, published by Scribner. King shows you how to improve the basic fundamentals of writing - description, theme, and dialogue - and gives excellent examples of what to do and what not to do. He also rails mightily against some of my favorite pet peeves, over-description and the passive voice. It's brand new, so rush rush rush to your bookstore and buy it!
