Kris

Kris is an amazing writer. Her stories show her wonderful imagination and attention to detail, and are completely riveting. "The Transformations Trilogy" is one of the absolute best epic-length novels I've read in the Buffy fandom, and I highly recommend it.

However, it is not archived here, due to its length - I was just way too daunted to even ask. I did ask for, and was delighted to get, her story "Home" which is just as good - and in some ways, better.

Kris says that "[Home]is a story of friendship." I would also say that it is an examination of the emotional aftermath of Buffy's flight from Sunnydale after killing Angel in "Becoming 1 & 2". Kris perfectly captures Willow's voice, and traces her musings through the last day of school. What sets it apart from other "this is what such-and-such character is thinking during x scene" type stories is the way she weaves actual events of that day into her narrative, so that they are anchored in a time and a place. Willow meanders in her thinking even while she is helping Giles through one of the hardest days of his life.

"Home" is a beautiful story.
