Old updates
If you're curious about what came when, or merely enjoy my babble, here's all the old updates from 2000. Enjoy!

New interview alert! This time, Jacqui's stepped up to the plate to talk about her story "Willow", some of her influences, and the usual. Also, a little clarification - I originally had four stories on my wish list, two of which have been deleted because I got permission to archive. The remaining two will probably stay up there forever, since I don't anticipate hearing from the authors any time soon. That's all!
December 5, 2000
First, let me just say that Paul Simon does a wonderful concert! I am still floating, and I saw him on SUNDAY! Wow. Second, two new stories by two new authors. First, we have "Days of Darkness, Streets Like Wine" by James Walkswithwind. A gorgeous Wesley story, that I can't say enough (and at the same time, anything) about. Second, I'm beginning to think that this wish list of mine is the best idea I've ever had. Two stories were put up there, and they've both been archived. Now, we have "Romano Drom" - Jenny Calendar's father mourns her, faces his regrets and fears, and come to no true catharsis.
Now, a plug for something completely non-Buffy related. For those of you living in the States (I don't know if this is available overseas yet, although I doubt it) please let me urge you to forgo "Friends" one night and tune into the "Gilmore Girls" Thursday on the WB - y'all have heard of that channel, right? It is simply the best new show I've ever seen.
And finally, something from me. I view each of these stories as a gift, and I want to thank the authors from my heart - from my very veins and blood cells actually - for writing them and letting me have the honor of archiving them on TDSoS. I've had so much fun with this site, and I cannot express my appreciation enough.

Two new stories, one new author! Let me introduce you to Puca Dentata, although if you're into dark fiction, you've probably read her stuff already. She's marvy, not to mention a fabulous web wiz. ("Penny Dreadful"... so very cool.) Here we have "Our House" a story that takes place after the Hellmouth opens for the last time. The survivors aren't who you think they are, and what happens to them is not what you expect.
And now I eat crow. I asked Lar if I could archive one story, lost my mind, and put up another one instead. So, now you can read "Alignment" - a story about Wesley, Faith, and forgiveness. Beautiful.

Well, I've been busy. First, a couple of new stories - "Home" by Kris Walberg. Wonderful story about the aftermath of "Becoming I & II", focusing on Willow and Giles. Not 'shippy, but touching, sad, and I thought a little bit scary. Then Lasarhiona, who wrote the chilling "Nightmare" series, wrote "1898", a story about how Spike became a vampire. It was written before "Fool for Love" and posits that Angel sired Spike, not Drusilla. Next, a new section! My "wish list" is a list of stories I love that I can't archive for one reason or another. Never fear, I tell you where to find them. Third - I've been invited to be a nominee for the Pride & Sacrifice Awards - graphic is on the awards page. Go. Vote for me. Why not? Finally, there's been a few changes on the layout of the site. The first page was just freakin' ugly, so I moved stuff around, deleted the section of things I wanted to do ('cause it was pointless) and added, as I've mentioned, my wish list.
For some reason, I'm thinking that I forgot something. Argh. When I remember, I'll let you know.
November 12, 2000
Oooo, an actual update! Go me. We have a new author to the TDSoS fold - Joanne Schulze, who favors us with a gorgeous bit of Dru-ness with "Dance". Then some new stuff from some old friends! Lar has written a deeply dark Faith story that explores how far she has to go to release the guilt and anguish her actions have caused her. "Lanciname" - go check it out. And finally, a five-parter from Jessica. "Sense Memory" tells five stories, from five characters, using the five senses as the focus. Sad and wonderful, they are a fabulous addition to the archive. Enjoy!

Much to discuss here...
First, the next author interview is up! This is rapidly becoming my favorite part of running TDSoS. DreamSmith, the author of "A Thing of Terrible Beauty" as well as many other fabulous stories, is up on the block, and does marvellously. I love this guy.
Second: Rowan (she of "Wolfself" a fave-rave of mine) and I have started a new page, Mutually Admiring Buffy Sites (or MABS, as we fondly call it). It's not an awards site, but a place where we get to gush about and mention the wonderful Buffy/Angel sites we visit. Rowan did the design completely by herself, as I suck at it, and it's gorgeous. Please drop by at http://virtue.nu/mabs/index.html and play around! Read the MABSian history, enjoy the Silly E-mail Madness, and play with our pride and joy, the MABSIAN ACRONYM GENERATOR. Fun for all! And, of course, check out the Featured Site of Whenever-we-decide-to-update - the raison d'etre for the whole thing. (Is "whole" spelled correctly? It looks weird.)
Third: Yay me! I won an award I didn't even know I was up for! I am the recipient of the Fanfic site award from the first annual Halloween Awards put together by Prelude to Imagination. Cool! You can check out the oh-so-pretty graphic and link on over to PTI from my awards page.

Two, two, one-two buckle my shoe, two new authors for you! (Yes, I stole that from Ally McBeal - sue me. I don't even watch the show, but I did catch that line and I liked it.) M. Scott Eiland, who you've probably read on the BtVS Creative newsgroup, has written a wonderful Xander character study with "Reflections". Nope, not dark at all; exactly the opposite, actually. Remember, darkness is an option here at TDSoS - quality is a requirement! And Brad H. has graced us with a mini-series: "What Lies Beneath" and "Vengeance". Excellent writing, great imagery and symbolism. Enjoy!

Again, the archive gods have smiled upon me. Nope, no new stories yet, although I'm planning an update as soon as the author sends me the final version of his two stories. But when they come, you'll be delighted. However, we have a new interview up! bulletproof gives us her opinions on Faith and Buffy, dogs Riley, and admits a shameful secret *g*. Naw, it's not that bad... So, yeah, it's been a while between updates, but keep in mind - quality over quantity. And for a completely non-angsty plug, check out When Hellmouths Collide - a completely hysterical Buffy/Xena/Hercules crossover that actually works. I'm hooked.

Bow before me, the Update Queen. (As Erin says, "You update the best! Go you - update! Update!") We have, and please insert drumroll here, six new stories! First, a new one by our old friend Kita - "Komodo". Warning - this one is heavy on the dark side, and most violent. But, it's not just mindless Hollywood violence, but a story of good versus evil, hope versus despair, all locked in one man. It's chilling, horrific, and fabulous.
Three new authors have joined the TDSoS family - Ins, Tev Ye (due to another of those "take it if you want it" distribution statements - one day, people will learn...), and Jessica Walker. Ins gives us "Downward Spiral", a story of Cordelia and her newfound power, and "The Best Revenge" - another story set in the "Who Are You" universe. From Tev Ye, we have "Failure" and "Silence". These explore the tension-filled rehabilitation of Faith, Wesley's guilt for his actions while he was her Watcher, and Angel's... well, his total cluelessness and befuddlement as to what exactly needs to be done. Finally, Jessica Walker gives us "Controlled Circumstances", a gloriously well-written and heartrending depiction of Wesley's inner anguish over Angel....
Apparantly I was on a Wesley kick.
And finally, I'd like to give a shout-out to my best friend Erin. Writing the little author blurbs, while enjoyable, can sometimes feel like writing an English assignment. And this time, I had four to write. Can we say writer's block? But she was there with the right words, and maybe this time she'll read the fic! Ahem. Anyway, thanks pal! You edit the best. Yay! Rah! Wave flag! (OK, giddiness ends now.)
August 31, 2000
New section alert! No, no new stories yet, still on the prowl, but I finally added the author interview page I've been imagining. Kita is the first highlighted author, and she was perfect. Check it out - click "the scribes" on the menu bar.

Whew! Almost a whole month before an update! I was goin' nutso, let me tell you. I vented to my pal rowan, who gave me gorgeous counsel - don't drop the standards just to have an update. And lo and behold, the gods of archivedom (or archivedoom, as it feels some days) smiled upon me and blessed me with two lovely works. "The Distance Between Us" by Kirk depicts an interesting and informative conversation between Buffy and my girl Faith - pre-graduation, but after Faith starts working for The Mayor. Then we have "Alabaster" by Lar. It's the first part of a longer series (which hasn't been posted yet) but I think it does extremely well on its own. And yes, it's another Faith story, but evil evil evil. Also, there's a couple of new links up. AAAND, I just want to gloat about the amount of loverly feedback that I've gotten! Y'all seem to love the new layout, and someone even referred to TDSoS as the best Buffyfic site on the web. I blushed, I must admit. Then grinned like a loon. Enjoy, and I hope to have more up soon! (Oh, and one more thing - someone asked me if I read anything but dark depressing stories. Yes! There's two delightfully silly Buffy/Xander stories I'm following now and loving, and I highly recommend "It Starts With Faith" by Dreiser. I found it on the Pinkrabbit Subtext page - much fun therein.)
July 26, 2000
Lookie lookie! A new format for TDSoS! Again! But this one, I think you'll agree, is loads better than the previous two incarnations. Go and explore a little, why don'tcha?
July 18, 2000
Added a mahvelous story by Annie Sewell-Jennings. Those of you who read XF fanfic may recognize the name as one of the premier authors in the fandom. Lucky us, she writes Buffyfic as well! Also added Buffysearch button, MABS button, and moved a couple of things around.
June 30, 2000
Two, count them, two new authors and stories for you, my friends! The first, "I'm Not One" by Kita, is all about Angel. It's dark, harsh, and very good. The second is one I've been longing for lo these many months: "A Thousand Ways to Die" by Miriam Rocke. What a story! Giles faces his worst nightmare, again and again, until you reach the end of the story and... Check them out!
June 22, 2000
Wow. This is karma. Kismet. Whatever, it's pretty nifty. TDSoS has been nominated for a Best of Buffy Web award! Cool, huh? I don't go out and solicit those, because frankly, what's good on this site isn't anything I've done. (That would be the writing.) All I've done is collect good stuff and throw it up on the net. Where most of it already was. But, apparently this Best of Buffy thing is by nomination only, so someone out there really liked TDSoS - thanks whoever you are! BUT, and this is the really cool part, I got the e-mail about the nomination today, which just happens to be my birthday! (I'm the exact same age as Heather Donoghue, the chick from Blair Witch.) Neat.
June 13, 2000
Tiny little update - Rowan, bless her soul, made me a gorgeous banner with a TuffBuff standing in front of a smoky background. It's up on the Link to Me page, which really needs to be more prominent, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. But rowan is the best...
June 10, 2000
Whoo! Long time, no update! S'alright, though - got a good one for you here. "Who You Are" by bulletproof - check it out!
May 2, 2000
Added "Wolfself," "Darkside, Lightside," and "The Stranger's Portrait" by Rowan. Beautiful writing... check her out! Also added her page to the Links page, and a "Link to Me" page. Just in case you want to, you know, link to TDSoS for some odd reason...
April 30, 2000
Added Chapter Eight of "A Thing of Terrible Beauty" - my sources tell me this could stretch to maybe ten chapters. Good, 'cause I'm loving it. Also, look for THREE fabulous new stories by Rowan! Her writing blew me away, and I'm thrilled and proud to promote her on my site.
April 25, 2000
YAY! The big update is here!!! Which, of course, you know, since you're here already. I still have some minor things left on the ol' to-do list (upload revised story pages, etc.) but for the most part, I'm done.
April 24, 2000
Nothing big yet, just added a few new webrings.
April 22, 2000
New story! Yay! "Alternative Lifestyles," by A. C. Chapin. Wonderful story, just go read it. (No summary, 'cause I'll spoil it.)
April 4, 2000
Added new story, "The Nightmare Series" by Lasarhiona. Four vignettes, depicting Giles' nightmares while Watching the Slayer. The last one completely grabbed me, and the third one is ... something else entirely *g*. Give 'em a look-see!
March 29, 2000
Hey! I just found my link on Yahoo! Yay! Oh, and we're fast approaching 1000 hits, my magic number for massive site updating. I'm planning on vegging out in front of the computer for about two days (my Lost Weekend) figuring out how to pretty-up the site, play with my nifty new graphics program, and upload fanfic - coming soon!
March 7, 2000
Well, I've just been update queen! Added a marvelous story, "Essential Fragility," by Kim Wylie. This is the story that inspired me to start this archive, and I'm beyond thrilled that I've got it here. Give it a read!
March 6, 2000
Added "The Brighter, Cold Moon" by Zero - gorgeous Spike/Dru fic; revamped some of the layout. I'm planning a major revision of this site, but it's taking a while to get it done. Look for "Essential Fragility" by Kim Wylie, coming soon...
March 1, 2000
Added "Lore of the Slayer" webring
February 27, 2000
Added new chapter to "A Thing of Terrible Beauty." (I just adore this story!)
February 26, 2000
Added new story, "Willow" by Jacqui, added "The Slayer Show" webring - yippee!
