Woe, or how I am unable to knit

(aya here)

It’s been a long month. A month of not knitting, of trying not to type too much, and generally behaving where my right wrist/hand/arm is concerned. Why? because my right thumb keeps going numbish. Not numb like pins and needles, but numb like when you whack your funny bone -that weird twangy feel. Also, the ache in my forearm is pretty bad – it hasn’t been this bad since high school.

Too much of everything, repetitive-motion-wise. I can’t give up the work typing (of which there’s a ton), so something else had to give. That would be knitting, and keeping my non-work typing (i.e. slacking on the computer at home) to a minimum.

Which is totally boring. Two of my major hobbies – gone. Or at least gone for now. Even watching TV isn’t the same, without knitting or the computer to play with. I am used to multi-tasking that way.

Tomorrow I’m off to the doctor. I’m sure a brace of some sort is in my future. Honestly, I welcome it – hopefully it’ll make me behave and the aching will go away.

Vacation is lovely. I’ve done nothing but read and sleep and watch the Olympics. I really needed this down-time. It’s just sad that it’s already half-over.

Wow, I’m just Debbie Downer today, eh?

In happy news – I can’t wait for Feasting on Waves. I <3 Alton Brown. Yes I do.

Also of the good:

-lunch with an old friend/coworker tomorrow.
-hanging out with some Boston friends on Friday night.
-The absolutely gorgeous weather going on right now in MA. 70s during the day, cool crisp nights. Early, for sure, but a lovely break from Charlotte’s evilly hot and humid weather.
-I have over 80,000 points on travelocity now. And a gazillion Marriott points. No clue on the US Air points. I can’t wait to be off-boarded from the Charlotte gig so that I can use those points for a nice long trip someplace that I’ve never been. I’m all for ideas, so toss them my way!

Well, I guess that’s all for now. I should cut my typing short so I don’t pay for it later.

toodles.
